Celebrate Lit Presents Epic Book Launch: The Bible Companion Book 6 Psalms Author: Karen Westbrook Moderow

About the Book

Book: The Bible Companion Book 6 Psalms

Author: Karen Westbrook Moderow

Genre: Bible Study

Can you tell God how you feel? The Bible Companion Book 6 helps you approach God with both honesty and respect. A simple one-chapter-a-day format lets you engage with Scriptures without the pressure of schedules, homework, or heavy reading loads. Short daily readings and thought-provoking questions connect your story to God’s Word. For personal and group study.

In the Books of Wisdom (Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Songs), God speaks to us in poetry—the language of the heart. In Psalms we mourn, celebrate, and worship with people who run to God in the best and worst seasons of life. Their experiences give us hope. If you feel alone, if you are hurting, if you need grace, join the psalmists who find forgiveness and strength in God's presence.

Excerpt from the Book

Instead, we linger, allowing the images to take hold of our imaginations. We sit quietly and let our hearts catch up with the words, allowing the Holy Spirit to settle our emotions and to gently correct us or redirect us.

Psalms isn’t a set of principles, laws, or facts—it’s a journal of real-life people in real-life situations who are changed by their encounter with God.

We read Psalms:

§  To know what God is like. The psalms have been called the portrait gallery of God. They give us snapshots of God’s character in such images as a strong tower, a rock, a shepherd, a warrior, a mother, a father.

§  As a mirror of the soul. We not only see God as we read, we see ourselves. Putting ourselves in the “sandals” of the author, we discover if we’re moving toward or away from God.

§  While anticipating Jesus. The imagery of the psalms follows us into the New Testament. David’s depiction of God as a shepherd (Ps. 23) connects us to Jesus, “the good shepherd” (John 10), and we realize the hope of this ancient book rests on Christ.
