The Merchant’s Yield is the second book in the Leeward Island series. The idea for my heroine, Lottie Etheridge, stemmed from a writing prompt—Pretend you are a relative from your past. My family has often speculated where the bright red hair that pops up every other generation (my dad, my cousin, and my niece) originated, since my grandfather was adopted. My opening hook at one time was Lottie’s mother stating, “Red hair is for opera singers and ballet dancers. You should have powdered your hair.”
In my research about the island of St. Kitts, I came across a French-American pirate named Jean Lafitte, educated at the military academy on St. Kitts. The concept of my hero, Nathaniel Winthrop, a merchant who could have schooled with a pirate, set my creative juices flowing, especially after reading about Lafitte’s outlandish and quirky behavior. I couldn’t resist interlacing the lives of my main characters with the daring pirate.
I enjoyed writing Lottie’s struggle between pacifying others, yet trying to stay true to how God made her. Also, I can relate to her attempts at rebellion backfiring, for I too could never get away with anything. Lottie’s soft heart contrasts nicely with the guarded hero, Nathan, as she peels back each painful layer of his thick façade to reveal the devoted and ardent love he holds beneath.

My Review

I really enjoyed this book, it had a lot of unexpected twists and turns, and I sure didn't see them coming.
Surprise marriages, black magic in the form of curses, friends, and enemies, and even those of a notorious nature make an appearance here.
You certainly won't get get bored with this one, and you will be like me quickly page-turning for answers and surprises.
A woman who needs to win her husbands heart, and she seems to win sailors at a drop of a hat, or a mended sail!
What a great job the author did with this tale that takes place during Revolutionary times, pirates on the high seas, and through it all a Love of the Lord!

My Review





ou begin to see that history for Jett’s family is repeating itself, and because of his article things start to go horribly wrong, but why?
The author gives us two very strong characters here, one a lawyer, Savannah Daniels, and the other a star reporter Jett Glover, and how they are thrown together.
You won’t see a lot of what happens coming, your kept on the edge of your seat, and yes, there is a lot of action here. We have sadly murders, and plane crashes, along with human trafficking, and more!
I love this author’s reads, always know I’m in for a great story, and this one doesn’t disappoint!

My Review

When Serenity submits her DNA to be analyzed, she never expected the results she received, and how the author's mind worked as the pieces of this book fell together!
Can you imagine finding a sister you never knew you had, actually not one, but two, and now these young woman are meeting each other at Lake Tahoe for the first time.
They come with a lot of baggage, but seem to form an instant connection, sisterhood, and a bonus of a four year old niece!
We are kept guessing here, and when the final facts unfold, wow, never ever saw it coming, will you be blindsided like me, or have an idea what happened here?
Loved the epilogue at the end, there is a completion, but we could continue here!

My Review

The author gives us two Amish couples to focus on, and we get to be part of their lives, and things may look wonderful on the outside, but not so in reality.
The married couple are very young, the wife being only 17 and already have a child, but they skipped an important part of their life together, and we are witnesses to their attempts to make it right.
The other couple meet as a result of the first married parents, but we are with them as they journey to be with one another. What a bumpy ride you are about to experience as they travel towards life long commitments.
There is so much compassion offered here for the less fortunate, made me want to become friends and know them personally.
Some things are not how we perceive them to be and there are many examples offered here, but answers are forthcoming, and this is a book that you will get lost in and not want to put down until you know what happens!

My Review




True grit, stamina, and complete determination, along with hidden family skeletons. We are given two young woman over hundred years apart, one a struggling teacher in a hard school, the other a freed slave who used to live on the property that our teachers renting.
Of course, they never meet, but what a connection is formed here, I felt like I was living history. These woman go to great extremes to help those they are now in charge of, and you wonder where they get the fortitude to continue.
The story has a great amount of history, showing a great deal of injustice, and if you try and put yourself in Hannie's shoes, I couldn't. There are tears and smiles, and be sure to read the notes at the end, full of information, and completion!

My Review

1754 England was a different place and times were hard, a lot of people didn’t survive, and as you begin turning the pages of this book you will begin walking in two different woman’s shoes.
One gives birth and surrenders her child all in one day to a foundling home, for what she is hoping to return and get her in about six years.
The other has had a lot of tragedy in her life, including the death of her husband. She does not have to worry about where her next meal is coming from, having been left well off after the death of her parents.
Both endeavor to be parents to Charlotte/Clara, and we are along to see how this unfolds, and the heartache, and yes, the loving of others to help.
This book quickly became a page-turner for me, and I finished in one sitting!
