My Review

First I wanted to go and stay at the picturesque place, and chuckled as the group unloaded to go into their lodging, people, dogs and cats, and they soon add a parrot.
Tj’s friend needs help and since her Dad can’t come she is there to lend a hand with what to do with the resort. Of course we know that this is a murder mystery, and soon we find that there is a body in the attic, but why are the police calling natural causes.
Kyle is there for Tj, and the girls, as they try and settle in I kept hoping for a spark between them. We meet the locals, and they made me want to move there, so welcoming when they find out whom they are, and some remember a sullen Tj.
We also have deal with big conglamorant who wants really to steal the beautiful land Tj is trying to save, and all the while you want to smack them.
The answers are to come and you won’t be able to put this read down until you know the answers, a quick, sweet and enjoyable read. Now I need a parrot.
I received this book through Great Escapes Book Tours, and was not required to give a positive review.

A Mother's Love by Charlotte Hubbard ~ Review & Amazon or Barnes & Noble Gift Card

It’s been a year of tragic loss and difficult decisions for widow Rose Raber. She thought providing for her young daughter was the greatest challenge she faced. Until her dying mother revealed Rose was adopted—and her birth mother is someone with much to lose if the secret comes out. As Rose struggles to reconcile the truth with her faith—and her troubling curiosity—outgoing newcomer Matthias Wagler is another surprise she didn’t expect. His optimism and easy understanding inspire her. And his prospective partnership with wealthy deacon Saul Hartzler promises a possible new life for them—together. But with this second chance comes yet another revelation for all involved. When Saul’s wife unexpectedly turns up at Rose’s new job, their bond as mother and daughter is instant and unmistakable. It isn’t long before an unforgiving Saul discovers the truth, threatening Matthias’s livelihood and Rose’s future. Now with more than just their happiness at stake, Rose and Matthias must find the strength and courage to stand strong—and trust God’s enduring miracles of motherhood, forgiveness, and love.

EXCERPT: Pausing at the door of the downstairs bedroom, where Mamma was staying now because she could no longer climb the stairs, Rose nipped her lip. Mamma’s face and arms were so withered and pale. It was a blessing that her pain relievers kept her fairly comfortable. When Mamma realized Rose had returned, she beckoned with her hand. “Let’s talk about this before I lose my nerve,” she murmured. “There’s a stationery box . . . in my bottom dresser drawer. The letters inside it . . . will explain everything.” Rose’s pulse lurched. In all her life, she’d never known Mamma to keep secrets—but the shadows beneath Mamma’s eyes and the fading of her voice warned Rose that this was no time to demand an explanation. Rose sat down in the chair beside the bed again, leaning closer to catch Mamma’s every faint word. “I hope you’ll understand . . . what I’ve done,” Mamma murmured. “I probably should have told you long ago, but . . . there just never seemed to be a right time—and I made promises—and your dat believed we should let sleeping dogs lie.” Rose’s heart was beating so hard she wondered if Mamma could hear it. “Mamma, what do you mean? What are you trying to—” Mamma suddenly gripped Rose’s hands and struggled, as though she wanted to sit up but couldn’t. “Do not look for her, Rose. I—I promised her you wouldn’t.” Rose swallowed hard. Her mother appeared to be sinking in on herself now, drifting in and out of rational thought. “Who, Mamma?” Rose whispered urgently. “Who are you talking about?” Mamma focused on Rose for one last, lingering moment and then her body went limp. “I’m so tired,” she rasped. “We’ll talk tomorrow.” Rose bowed her head, praying that they would indeed have another day together. She tucked the sheet and light quilt around Mamma’s frail shoulders. It was all she could do. “Gut night, Mamma,” she murmured. “I love you.” She listened for a reply, but Mamma was already asleep.

About The Author

Many moons ago—like, in 1983 while she was still a school librarian—Charlotte Hubbard sold her first story to True Story. This launched her into writing around seventy of those “true confessions” stories over the years, and she’s been a slave to her overactive imagination ever since. Over the course of her writing career, she has sold nearly 50 books—most recently, Amish romance series she’s written as Charlotte Hubbard or Naomi King. Charlotte lived in Missouri for most of her life, so her Amish stories are set in imaginary Missouri towns. These days she lives in St. Paul, MN with her husband of 40+ years and their Border collie, Vera.

My Review

loved this sweet story and when the last page was turned, I wanted to continue on and live with these people that I had come to care for, especially little Gracie.
Can you imagine sitting at the deathbed of you mother, and learning that all you have believed all your life is a lie, or is it? This is basically what happened to our main character, and how she handles this information is really not in her hands. She is told by both her mother and her Bishop not to pursue finding her mother, and God sure seemed to have other ideas, but in the end are the Bishop and her mother really right.
What a heart breaking topic, but told with such compassion and love, and with so much tragedy in their young lives, Rose and Gracie seem to pull up their boots and move on with their lives.
If you enjoy Amish stories this is one read you don’t want to miss, filled with love and compassion, and for some life lessons, and I finished in no time, but found the story lingering with me.

I received this book through the Author, and was not required to give a positive review.

The Ebb Tide by Beverly Lewis

When a well-to-do family asks Sallie Riehl to be their daughter's nanny for the summer at their Cape May, New Jersey, vacation home, she jumps at the chance to broaden her horizons beyond the Lancaster County Amish community where she grew up. Curious by nature, Sallie loves reading and learning, and she fears that her chances of making a good match with an Amish farmer will be hampered because of it.

Though she loves taking care of nine-year-old Autumn Weaver during the week, Sallie has free time on the weekends to enjoy the shore. It is there that she meets Edward Kreider, a young marine biology student who talks freely about all he's learning and asks about her interests, unlike the guys she grew up with. Sallie wonders if this is the kind of relationship she's been longing for. Then again, Ed isn't from her community--and he's Mennonite, not Amish.

Sallie is afraid of what her parents would think about her new friendship. But that's not all she's fearful of. When unexpected danger threatens Autumn, Sallie will have to put her fears aside. Will this be a summer to remember, or one to forget?

My Review

A very different Amish book as our main character has wanderlust, and was surprised her family was going to allow it, although she promises for sure she will join the Church next year.
While she does forgo one trip another seems to fall in her lap, and a life change is about to happen. She is going to Cape May NJ and becoming a nanny. Now that sounds like a fun job and time to me, and she sure does have a lot of adventures, which we are going to enjoy with her.
After all of this will she be able to come home and bend her knee, and maybe join the young man who seems to want to court her. Or will the adventure be the catalysis to leave her faith, one would hope not. We do meet her family and extended family, and she is mightily blessed to have so much support.
A fun read that is full of interesting information, it made me want to head to New Jersey. Enjoy your stay with Riehl family and friends.

Write Now Literary Presents: His Last Resort by M. A. Malcom

Write Now Literary is pleased to announce His Last Resort, a Contemporary Christian Romance by author M.A. Malcolm, March 27-April 7, 2017.
ASIN: B06XQDPTT1
ISBN-10: 9769581550
ISBN-13: 978-9769581555

About The Author

M. A. Malcolm, a native of Jamaica, is a wife, mother, stepmother, daughter, sister and aunt. She is a freelance copy editor, administrative service provider and self-publishing consultant who also works part-time as an educator. With a passion for enhancing the work of Christian writers, she is certified in copyediting and is the founder of Nitpicking with a Purpose (NitpickingwithaPurpose.com). Over the years, she has worked with a host of local and international authors and authors-to-be.
When she published her first book, "His Last Hope: A Contemporary Christian Romance" in July, 2015, she fully expected it to be ‘one and done.’ She had no intention of writing another book of any kind; however, readers have demanded more, and the Lord has made it possible for her to comply. Not only has He allowed her more time to write; He has also given her more messages to share.
With the anticipated publication of "His Last Resort," the first part of her relatively recent vision of turning "His Last Hope" into a series has come true. She is currently working on two more manuscripts in the series, and has plans for a third.
In 2016, she also became a children’s author with the publication of her first children’s book, "So very… Max!"—a modern-day response to Hans Christian Andersen’s "The Ugly Duckling."
Mrs. Malcolm has been a part of Faith in Christ Ministries in Westmoreland, Jamaica, for more than ten years. She divides her time among her family; work and writing projects; dogs; to-be-read list, and catching up on much-needed sleep.

About The Book
Driven and focused, business owner and future pastor Robert Marsden knows exactly what he wants… and what he doesn’t. The Do Not Disturb sign he’s placed on his heart is his way of discouraging the ‘wanna-be first ladies’ who’ve set their sights on him... ladies like Claire Foxwood. The way he sees it, Claire and others like her are clearly more focused on impressing others than on their eternal souls.
Claire can’t help her attraction to Robert, but his decision to make a public spectacle of her hurts to the core. Part of her wants to give him a piece of her mind, but the rest of her remains infatuated with the man who’s too attractive for his – and her – own good. If only she didn’t feel like he has a role to play in her destiny!
Can Ruby “Aunt Ruby” Crawford’s words of godly wisdom peppered with a hint of humor help the misguided pair look deep within themselves and discover God’s plan for their lives?

“Do you go out of your way to be offensive to everyone? Or am I special?” She folded her arms and looked crossly at Robert. Chaz stood alert, as if he was aware of his owner’s mood.
“Excuse me?” He wondered if he’d heard her right.
“I’ve wracked my brain, Mr. Marsden. I’ve gone over every minute of every conversation we’ve ever had, and the only time I remember being even a little bit rude to you was that day at your church. Clearly, my defensiveness that day made more of an impact than I thought, so please let me apologize. I’m sorry for my behavior that afternoon. I was annoyed that you had so easily forgotten me, although I obviously remembered meeting you. It was childish, and if I was rude or out of line, I’m really sorry. Now, if you don’t mind, I need to go.”
She stepped away from him, but Robert moved in front of her and stood with his legs wide apart and his hands on his hips, effectively blocking her path. It was amazing how attractive she was with her face free of makeup and covered in perspiration. If circumstances were different, he might be tempted to lean forward and kiss the bead of sweat from just above her top lip and then maybe he’d
He caught himself mid-thought and tried to remember what she had just said.
As if she were aware of the direction his thoughts had taken, she retrieved a small towel that had been tucked into the waistband of her pants and mopped her face.
“Thank you for the apology, as unnecessary as it was. Exactly how have I ever been offensive to you?”
She gave a wry laugh. “I guess the word is not so much offensive as it is judgmental.” She moved towards the nearby park bench, but remained standing.
“Me? Judgmental?” He was quite confused. Was he hearing right?
“You. Judgmental...."

Andi Under the Big Top Circle C Stepping Stones #2 By Susan K. Marlow

The summer after Andi Carter turns nine the circus comes to town. She can't wait to get in line to see the elephants, acrobats, and--most of all--the champion bareback rider. What could be more thrilling than riding your very own horse under the big top?

But it's not all fun and games. Henry shares a secret with Andi: he ran away from home to join the circus--and now he's trapped. Andi wants to help him get free. But helping him may mean losing something very special to her

My Review

We are back at the Circle C in Fresno California, and with nine-year-old Andi Carter and her family.
Excitement is in the air and the family is going to go to the Circus that is rolling through town. Now this is 1877, and something like a circus was a big deal, the only way most people saw these wild animals was in a book.
Andi and sister are taken to the parade, before the big tops goes up, and although she seems to have a slight clown phobia she has a good time, especially seeing a palomino that looks just like her beloved Taffy.
We also meet Henry, and I wanted to take him home, poor little orphan boy, but he is now enjoying the circus life, doesn’t everyone want to runaway and join the circus? There is more here than meets the eye, and God seems to place this young one in the presence of the Carter family.
Again there are good life lessons here, and a perfect read for ages 7 to 10, they will soon be clamoring for more.
I received this book through Kregel Publishing and was not required to give a positive review.

Andi Saddles Up by Susan K Marlow

Andi Carter has just turned nine. She and her palomino, Taffy, are old enough to be a real horse-and-rider pair at last! With a beautiful new saddle, Andi's sure she is ready to learn to trick ride like her friend Riley used to do before he left the ranch.
Sadly, big brother Chad knocks down any trick-riding plans, but Andi cheers up when she discovers a new friend at her special spot. Her fun with Sadie is soon threatened, though. They are caught in the middle of a boundary quarrel between the two families. Both Sadie's pa and Chad are stubborn as mules and neither will back down.
Can Andi and Sadie hang on to their friendship while the adults are fighting?

My Review

Andi “Saddles Up” is a visit back with Andi Carter at the Circle “C” Ranch located near Fresno California, and the year is 1877. As the book opens delightful Andi is about to celebrate her ninth birthday, and being the youngest in the family, and rather special to all, she is delighted in her gifts.
A book geared to ages 7 to 10, grade level 2 to 5, but as an adult kept me in mind of my favorite childhood books, sure to make your child smile, and think back to a different time in this country.
There are some really good lessons in this one; maybe the heart of children is the way to go. Andi does learn a very hard and painful lesson here also, and a good example that we need to listen to our elders.

The Amish Widower by Virginia Smith

Is It Time for This Widower to Give Love One More Chance?

After the devastating loss of his second wife, Seth Hostetler believes a lasting love is beyond all hope. A year has passed, and his mamm and sister are determined to see him happily married once again. But how can he open his heart to another woman when their relationship could end in tragedy?

On an outing with his family, Seth comes across an Amish potter hard at work and jumps at the chance to take a seat at the wheel. He takes quickly to this creative outlet, pouring his long-buried emotions into each piece he shapes. Unfortunately, the fancy nature of his art draws the disapproval of his district's leadership.

His work puts him in the path of Leah, an Englisch woman employed by the Amish to sell their wares to tourists. Despite her aloofness, something about her speaks to Seth's wounded soul. But what is he to do when the things he wants most threaten to pull him away from the life he's committed to live?

A compelling novel of second chances and the power of God to redeem hearts and dreams, set in the inviting Amish community of Lancaster County.

My Review

When this book opens we learn that Seth had lost his first wife and now is happily married and expecting a baby, but this world is not about to last, and a tragic accident happens and he looses his second wife.
We travel in Seth’s shoes as he goes about his everyday life, and trying to avoid what his family and the community wants, him to remarry, he just can’t do it as he blames himself in a way for the demise of his loved ones. How is he ever going to be able to settle down and have a family, and he decides he isn’t.
A chance meeting with a potter and a new course in his life is set, and a young man shows up in his family’s yard one day looking for a job. Robbie soon becomes Seth’s driver, now from this point on I realized or speculated on who he was, and you will have to read to find out if I’m right.
We also have another struggling soul, the potter’s granddaughter Leah, a former Amish woman, and now struggling, and these two have a lot in common, they need to forgive. Easy to say, but hard to do, and will they ever be able to be at peace without it?
