It is during these dark times of the halting of prophetic words from God or faithfulness of His people that we are tempted to say that God has failed and His followers would never come to a place of fruitfulness again.
But again and again we see the mercy and kind patience of God in
restoring His
people and bringing
them to a place of order and obedience to the plan of God. Even
though the Lord sent
a “famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water,
but of hearing the
words of the Lord.” This did not last forever. Before the very coming
of Christ there was
a period of four hundred years with a complete halting of the
prophetic word to
His people, a dark silence (dark age), but God was still active and
there arose John the
Baptist.
The Beginning of the
Church Age
At the fulness of time Christ appeared and with the choosing of the twelve Apostles the Church age began. It was the culmination of the plan of God for the ages and though this was God’s perfect testimony being displayed we see that humanity still was humanity in all its failings.
