Escape on an Egyptian Excursion to the Land of the Pyramids!
Tour highlights include: Hieroglyphics and high tea in the desert, followed by murder after sunset . . .

It’s 1924 and Blix Windway has made a career out of her wanderlust, giving lectures to ladies’ groups about everything from the flora of the American desert to the beauty of the Swiss Alps, but she needs new material for her talks.

She strikes what seems to be an ideal agreement with an eccentric older lady. Blix will be her travel companion during a journey to Egypt, helping to smooth the way through customs and coordinate sightseeing tours. The arrangement will provide Blix with the perfect opportunity to photograph the pyramids and gather material for her next lecture series.

But they’ve barely left England before the trouble begins—rough seas and an attempted robbery. Then a murder occurs during a tour of the pyramids.

Despite the attempts of the British officials to sweep the death under the rug, Blix becomes increasingly convinced that one of their tour party is a murderer.

Blix’s search for the truth takes her from the posh sporting clubs and lavish gardens of Cairo to the narrow, twisting lanes of the city’s centuries-old bazaar and the vast desert around the Giza Plateau. Can Blix unearth the truth before the killer makes this journey her last?

Join Blix on this classic murder mystery from Sara Rosett, author of the beloved High Society Lady Detective series.

Over the Edge (Undaunted Courage Book #2): (Psychological Suspense Thriller Romance with a Police Detective and Trauma Survivor ) by Irene Hannon

Trauma survivor Lindsey Barnes hasn't fully recovered from the ordeal that almost took her life, and now she's in the middle of another crisis. Not only is she the sole witness in a high-profile murder case, but it also appears someone is trying to cast doubts on her mental stability.

Police detective Jack Tucker doesn't know what to make of her story, especially when her elusive enemy leaves no evidence behind to lend credence to her claims. Yet the more he gets to know the appealing personal chef, the more he's convinced someone is targeting not only her sanity, but her life.

And unless they can figure out who is behind the campaign to undermine her credibility, a murderer could slip away--leaving more than one body in his or her wake.

With her signature spellbinding style, the bestselling and award-winning "queen of inspirational romantic suspense" (
Library Journal) delivers another riveting tale that will keep you turning pages long into the night.

My Review

Wow, another read by Irene Hannon that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Poor Lindsey has had so much happen to her, and then you will think she is loosing her mind. Hostage, then witness, and then? But why?

Then we have Police Detective Jack Tucker, and learn a lot about what makes him tick, and then he seems to like Lindsey, but can he believe her?

I was kept guessing as to whom the suspects were almost to the end, and then was surprised!

I really can't imagine all that happens to Lindsey, nor would I want to experience it, but there is a bit of sweet romance in this story for her!

This was a page turner for me, I needed answers!

She finds acceptance in the home of a nearby family who not only offer Kizzie friendship but point her to a deeper understanding of God’s love.

My Review

A story that will keep you page turning for answers. A read with roots in the Appalachia, and although this is the third book in this series, it can be read alone, there are recurring characters.

This is Kizzie McAdams story, and when she ends up in a family way, she is disowned by her father, but God wasn't about to let go of her and we follow her and the people that are put in her path.

Heartwarming read, with some drama and scary happenings, but I loved it! A beautiful Christian book!

My Review

We are gifted with several stories here, and some will require tissues!

We are back in Stoney Ridge, and there are some recurring character's here, but this can be read alone.

This read does feature Dok, and the gift that is given to her, that she doesn't want, but? Then we meet Bee, and Annie, among others!

This reads like we are there, and when the last page was turned we want more!

I loved Fern, she seemed to have the answers, and a subtle way, and Bee's sure needs help. Then Annie wishing to bloom, she is such a shy girl, but her Mom also needs help.

Journey for answers and surprises, not always like we hope!

All We Thought We Knew by Michelle Shocklee

1969. When Mattie Taylor’s twin brother was killed in Vietnam, she lost her best friend and the only person who really understood her. Now, news that her mother is dying sends Mattie back home, despite blaming her father for Mark’s death. Mama’s last wish is that Mattie would read some old letters stored in a trunk, from people Mattie doesn’t even know. Mama insists they hold the answers Mattie is looking for.

1942. Ava Delaney is picking up the pieces of her life following her husband’s death at Pearl Harbor. Living with her mother-in-law on a secluded farm in Tennessee is far different than the life Ava imagined when she married only a few short months ago. Desperate to get out of the house, Ava seeks work at a nearby military base, where she soon discovers the American government is housing Germans who they have classified as enemy aliens. As Ava works to process legal documents for the military, she crosses paths with Gunther Schneider, a German who is helping care for wounded soldiers. Ava questions why a man as gentle and kind as Gunther should be forced to live in the internment camp, and as they become friends, her sense of the injustice grows . . . as do her feelings for him. Faced with the possibility of losing Gunther, Ava must choose whether loving someone deemed the enemy is a risk worth taking, even if it means being ostracized by all those around her.

In the midst of pain and loss two women must come face-to-face with their own assumptions about what they thought they knew about themselves and others. What they discover will lead to a far greater appreciation of their own legacies and the love of those dearest to them.

My Review

Family, and war, that is the theme here, really from beginning to end, and sadly loss.

So much hurt and bitterness, and injustice. With so much out of our control, and yet, this story does span decades, and wars.

Interment camps, and death, fighting prejudice, and heartache, even when already being held.

Animals here hold the key to some healing, and love how the author gave us an injured war dog, and a gentle horse!

Ava Delaney, who is she? Well, she is the one that holds this story together, and she shares her journey with her daughter in a way that is hard and special.
Don't miss this story that spans from WWII to Vietnam, beautifully woven by Michelle Shocklee!

The Colony Club: A Novel by Shelley Noble

When young Gilded Age society matron Daisy Harriman is refused a room at the Waldorf because they don’t cater to unaccompanied females, she takes matters into her own hands. She establishes the Colony Club, the first women’s club in Manhattan, where visiting women can stay overnight and dine with their friends; where they can discuss new ideas, take on social issues, and make their voices heard. She hires the most sought-after architect in New York, Stanford White, to design the clubhouse.

As “the best dressed actress on the Rialto” Elsie de Wolfe has an eye for décor, but her career is stagnating. So when White asks her to design the clubhouse interiors, she jumps at the chance and the opportunity to add a woman’s touch. He promises to send her an assistant, a young woman he’s hired as a draftsman.

Raised in the Lower East Side tenements, Nora Bromely is determined to become an architect in spite of hostility and sabotage from her male colleagues. She is disappointed and angry when White “foists” her off on this new women’s club project.

But when White is murdered and the ensuing Trial of the Century discloses the architect’s scandalous personal life, fearful backers begin to withdraw their support. It’s questionable whether the club will survive long enough to open.

Daisy, Elsie, and Nora have nothing in common but their determination to carry on. But to do so, they must overcome not only society’s mores but their own prejudices about women, wealth, and each other. Together they strive to transform Daisy’s dream of the Colony Club into a reality, a place that will nurture social justice and ensure the work of the women who earned the nickname “Mink Brigade” far into the future.

My Review

I really enjoyed this read, and according to the author's notes, it is based on fact, but there are some fictional characters that are woven into this book that makes the story complete.
We begin with honoring the woman that really had the idea to build this Women's Club, Daisy Harriman, and she is being interviewed by a reporter about her accomplishments and how it came about, the year is 1963.
The story begins in early 1900's, when Daisy needs to return to NYC for some shopping, she can't stay at the men's club, so now where can she go? What a journey we embark on to bring the Colony Club to fruition, and all the obstacles that are put in their path.
This is also about a female architect and the firm that hires her, a man that saw her potential, and that tragedy that follows him. We also meet Elsie de Wolfe, an actress that changes her life and with a great eye she becomes an interior designer, and makes this club opulent with style.
This is such an interesting historical read!
