After falling from a tree, Agnes’s behavior and delusions escalate from ‘merely eccentric,’ to ‘near mayhem ’ Still seeking a permanent home for a displaced carnival tiger, she goes to unthinkable extremes in an effort to prevent city hall from destroying the big cat. When Agnes witnesses a well-known citizen commit burglary, and the church’s beloved Good Shepherd painting goes missing, she becomes obsessed with exposing the art thief. But, questions arise whether the extent of her bizarre behavior is due to a ‘brain bleed’ from her head injury, or is something amiss in her medical treatment?
As WWII rages across the Pacific, dealing with victory gardens and rationing at home doesn’t stop Agnes from fighting the war from the home front. From city hall, to the hot seat at Newbury’s Police Department, and finally to a San Francisco mansion, Agnes pursues injustice to save a tiger and expose a shocking conspiracy at the highest levels of Newbury’s elite society.
Mrs. Odboddy’s Desperate Doings is a hilarious WWII mystery-adventure you’ll not soon forget.

The All American pass time, baseball, and Susie Finkbeiner, has gifted us with a page turner, and you won't be able to put this one down! We meet the Harding family, Bertha, Flossie and Chipper, siblings living in the Detroit Michigan suburbs during the early 1950's. This is a period of rebirth after the war, but it is also the time of McCarthyism! This story is told by the sisters, one in love with and good at baseball, the other loves books and is always reading! Their teenage years, and how accusations changed everything! I loved that we learn more about women's baseball as Bertha joins the Sweet Peas! When the last page was turned I wanted to continue in the lives of the Hardings! My Review
Back with Mrs Odboddy and her cast of colorful characters, from tigers to chickens, to human with their colorful last names, you will be giggling! Is there romance in the air, well, yes, and also falling out of trees! Then there are paintings being stolen, and when the church's Good Shepherd painting, the one they raised money to buy, is taken, well, if you know Mrs Odboddy we are off on a journey for justice. Throw in an illness that is plaguing her, is she getting senile?
I love these stories, they never disappoint and keep me smiling! From beginning to end you never know what is going to happen on the next page!
