More from Dana

Cold Case Connection was really fun to write because it’s Helen’s story. She’s an intelligent, sensitive woman who is the sister to the men living on the Roughwater Ranch. Liam is her biological brother, but she’s just as close to Chad and Mitch who might as well be blood relatives. In this novel, Helen has to relive the worst moment of her teenage life, the night when a mysterious murder occurred during a teen prank. Helen is going to have to face the past in order to preserve her future. Cowboys, a case gone cold, a coastal ranch and a whole lot of danger…I hope you will enjoy the ride!

My Review

The author gives us a story that has many years in the making, and sad results from the beginning.
We meet a young man who now has the responsibility of raising his sister’s twin daughters, and blames her friend for not being there for her when she too was murdered.
Sergio wants answers and now has his sister’s friend on his side looking into who is covering up the original murder.
My mind ran the list of the characters and who could be responsible, and with more attempts, and more murders, my guesses kept changing.
This is a fast pace read, and you will be quickly page turning for answers.

Children of the Stars by Mario Escobar

From international bestselling author Mario Escobar comes a story of escape, sacrifice, and hope amid the perils of the second World War.
August 1942. Jacob and Moses Stein, two young Jewish brothers, are staying with their aunt in Paris amid the Nazi occupation. The boys’ parents, well-known German playwrights, have left the brothers in their aunt’s care until they can find safe harbor for their family. But before the Steins can reunite, a great and terrifying roundup occurs. The French gendarmes, under Nazi order, arrest the boys and take them to the VĂ©lodrome d’Hiver—a massive, bleak structure in Paris where thousands of France’s Jews are being forcibly detained.
Jacob and Moses know they must flee in order to survive, but they only have a set of letters sent from the south of France to guide them to their parents. Danger lurks around every corner as the boys, with nothing but each other, trek across the occupied country. Along their remarkable journey, they meet strangers and brave souls who put themselves at risk to protect the children—some of whom pay the ultimate price for helping these young refugees of war.
This inspiring novel, now available for the first time in English, demonstrates the power of family and the endurance of the human spirit—even through the darkest moments of human history.

My Review

This story takes place in Europe during the Holocaust, and the horrific time of hate. The author has us focus on the lives of two young boys, left with their aunt in France. The hope the parents had when they left their boys didn’t turn into reality, and things go wrong very fast.
The courage these youngsters show as they try to flee France and go to Spain to find their folks, and we walk in their shoes as this horrible journey begins and ends as they span continents.
As a parent I would have had a hard time leaving my children, sometimes hard decisions are made, but are they the right ones?
I did love the title and made a connection between the horrible yellow stars and the vastness of God’s universe and the night sky fun of stars.
Don’t miss the author’s notes at the end, yes, these are fictional characters, but there were real children that had this happen to them!

Loving Jenna by Amy Lillard

In this new series set in the beloved Oklahoma Amish community of Wells Landing, three generations of women challenge themselves and each other to make a fresh start in faith, family—and love.

Jenna Burkhart is tired of being “special” and hearing about what she can't do. Even though she suffered a head injury in a childhood swimming accident, she wants a life of her own just like any Amish woman. But now that she, her mamm, and her mammi have moved to Wells Landing, she's having a hard time fitting in. . . . Until she meets Buddy Miller, a boy just like her, who gives her the confidence to reach for the impossible . . .

Like Jenna, Buddy is used to being the boy no one expects much from, the one people see as “different.” Still, being around Jenna’s lively, kind-hearted ways makes him strive ever-harder to become the self-sufficient Amish man she deserves. But in the face of family disapproval and their own fears, will Jenna and Buddy's courage be enough to give them a forever happiness together?

About The Author

I'm a wife, mother, and bona fide Southern belle. Published author, expert corn bread maker, and Squirrel Princess.

I live in Tulsa, though I was born in Mississippi. I moved to the Sooner State when I was seventeen and met my soul mate and best friend not long after. I've retained a little of my Mississippi accent though most people think I'm from Texas. (?) Rob and I have been married for over twenty years and have a son--a mom proclaimed prodigy, of course!

I love homemade tacos, nail polish, and romance novels--not necessarily in that order. I'm a big fan of country music, a staunch proponent of saving the Oxford comma, and I'm shamefully obsessed with all things Harry Potter.

I believe that God is love. I guess that's why I adore romances.

I have always been intrigued with the Amish culture, their gentle ways and slower-paced lifestyle. (And I love, love, love the fact that they stay married for their lifetime.) But until recently I never thought to blend this interest with my penchant for romance. Okay, okay, I'm a bit old-fashioned and even enjoy the gender roles that are present in this culture. I love to cook and take care of my family. Yes, that's me June Cleaver with a laptop.

My Review

I loved this book, and found myself rooting for these young adults, yes, they have disabilities, but they are trying to break the chains of their limitations.
What a beautiful inspiring story the author gives us, and found myself walking in both the mom’s and their children’s shoes.
I do know that a child with “special” needs are so wanted, loved and treasured, especially in their Amish community, but these young adults object to the “special” term. Love how these moms are ready to do battle to keep their offspring safe, but when do the kid gloves come off? Probably never, but we get to see how these people deal with their children spreading their wings.
I love that old friends reappear in this stand-alone read, and we are back in Wells Landing Oklahoma, and our tractor driving Amish

More from Blossom

MORE ABOUT WHY I WROTE ANNA’S SECRET
I am a hopeless romantic, it has been at the core of my being from a child up. I dreamed of a love that would whisk me far from the pain of my childhood upbringing.
When I first started to write Anna’s Secret, I had not yet learned all I needed to know about forgiveness. I was half-way through the book when sorrow and betrayal hit my marriage. (See “About Me” at https://blossomturner.com) I stopped writing for years.
However, as God healed the broken and restored my soul, words of love once again danced within my being. God directed that I finish this book weaving in all I learned from the crucible of suffering in her own life. Through understanding the restorative power of God’s forgiveness when humanity fails, I wrote Anna’s Secret with a strong thread of hope woven into its fabric.
Readers have expressed the authenticity has brought them to tears, given them a love story that entertained, but the part I love the most … Anna’s Secret has inspired some readers to ask God for the help to forgive themselves, or ask Him for power to offer the gift of forgiveness to another.
My prayer is that you will find Anna’s Secret an entertaining romance, inspiration to your soul, and that you will enjoy the happy ending … always a happy ending. After all, God is the God of happily ever after, and heaven is the home in which all His children will find the greatest love of all.

My Review

This read kept my attention from beginning to end, and when finished I really wanted more.
A Christian story, with believers, and yes sinners, but how the sins are dealt with is the meat of the book. Just when you think the book is ending and you know the answers, nope, we journey on in the lives of those that we now care about.
Before being saved, and now that you know and embrace the truth, what a difference in these people’s lives.
I loved the compassion and love that is shown here, and forgiveness, and yet some just don’t get it, they become lost in their own life and feelings, and lose out on so much.
I know want to read more by this author!

My Review

A book to get lost in, could be a Hallmark movie, and we are guessing right to the end.
Five people are each given invitations to a library at the Fifth Avenue Story Society, strangers, some are some were previously married, and two spent the night in jail together, but why are they here? Curiosity, yes, and yet they keep coming.
There are a lot of deep seeded problems that the folks are holding, and will this new group of now friends be able to help one another? The secrets that fall, most I never saw coming, yes, there are big surprises here, and now I wonder if more invites to needy souls will be forthcoming?
I love books with epilogues, and this one sure didn’t disappoint!

More Than We Remember by Christina Suzann Nelson

One night changes everything for three women. . . .

When Addison Killbourn's husband is involved in a car accident that leaves a woman dead, her perfectly constructed life crumbles apart. With her husband's memory of that night gone and the revelation of a potentially life-altering secret, Addison has to reevaluate all she thought she knew.

Emilia Cruz is a deputy bearing a heavy burden far beyond the weight of her job. Her husband is no longer the man she married, and Emilia's determined to prevent others from facing the same hardship. When she's called to the scene of an accident pointing to everything she's fighting against, she's determined to see justice for those wronged.

Brianne Demanno is hiding from reality. She was thriving as a counselor, but when tragedy struck a beloved client, she lost faith in herself and her purpose. When her neighbors, the Killbourns, are thrown into crisis, Brianne's solitary life is disrupted and she finds herself needed in a way she hasn't been in a while.

As the lives of these women intersect, they can no longer dwell in the memory of who they've been. Can they rise from the wreck of the worst moments of their lives to become who they were meant to be?

My Review

This book opens with a horrific accident, one woman is deceased and the gentleman that hit her is injured. There are witnesses to the accident, and the policewoman on duty at the scene is having a hard time keeping it together.
What we don’t know about what others are going through, this book gives a glimpse into some broken lives, but all is possible with God, and there has to be some hope.
We are given women that end up being there for each other at the right time in their lives, and becoming the blessings they need.
Once you open the pages here, there is so much going on, but it felt like real life, and you want to be there to offer a hug!
I had my opinions, but it changed some as the story progressed, but was really surprised at the final outcome.
This book will have you in tears, and smiling at some of the kindness of others, filled with emotions, this is a page-turner.

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Bethany House, and was not required to give a positive review.

Isaiah's Legacy (Prophets and Kings #3) by Mesu Andrews

The drama of the Old Testament comes to life as Judah's most notorious king ascends to the throne in this gripping novel from the award-winning author of Isaiah's Daughter .

At eight years old, Shulle has known only life in a small village with her loving but peculiar father. When Uncle Shebna offers shelter in Jerusalem in exchange for Shulle's help tutoring King Manasseh, Judah's five-year-old co-regent who displays the same peculiarities as her father, she's eager to experience the royal court. But Shulle soon realizes the limits of her father's strict adherence to Yahweh's Law when Uncle Shebna teaches her of the starry hosts and their power.

Convinced Judah must be freed from Yahweh's chains, she begins the subtle swaying of young Manasseh, using her charm and skills on the boy no one else understands. When King Hezekiah dies, twelve-year-old Manasseh is thrust onto Judah's throne, bitter at Yahweh and eager to marry the girl he adores. Assyria's crown prince favors Manasseh and twists his brilliant mind toward cruelty, beginning Shulle's long and harrowing journey to discover the Yahweh she'd never known, guided with loving wisdom by Manasseh's mother: Isaiah's daughter, the heartbroken Hephzibah. Amid Judah's dark days, a desperate remnant emerges, claiming the Lord's promise, "Though we're helpless now, we're never hopeless--because we serve El Shaddai." Shulle is among them, a girl who becomes a queen through Isaiah's legacy.

About The Author

Mesu grew up with a variegated Christian heritage. With grandparents from the Pilgrim Holiness, Nazarene, and Wesleyan Churches, her dad was a Quaker and mom charismatic. As you might imagine, God was a central figure in most family discussions, but theology was a battlefield and Scripture the weapon. As a rebellious teenager, Mesu rejected God and His Word, but discovered Jesus as a life-transforming Savior through the changed life of an old friend.

The desire for God's Word exploded with her new commitment, but devotional time was scarce due to the demands of a young wife and mother. So Mesu scoured the only two theology books available--children's Bible stories and her Bible. The stories she read to her daughters at night pointed her to the Bible passages she studied all day. She became an avid student of God's Word, searching historical and cultural settings as well as ancient texts and original languages.

Mesu and her husband Roy have raised those two daughters and now enjoy a tribe of grandkids, who get to hear those same Bible stories. Mesu's love for God's Word has never waned. She now writes biblical novels, rich with spiritual insight learned through fascinating discoveries in deep historical research.

My Review

A book that quickly became a page-turner, what an excellent job the author did of transporting me to biblical times and the time of Israel’s most horrific king. This book is the sequel to Isiah’s Daughter, but can definitely be read alone.
When the book opens we meet a young Manasseh, whom today would probably be called autistic, that is my guess.
We find Satan working hard here, and evil is everywhere, and corrupting a young girl who worms her way into the heart of this young man.
What a tale the author weaves and the horrific slaughter of believers, and it doesn’t stop there. I loved all the history, and yes this is fiction, but it gives us a mind picture into the past.
This is one book you don’t want to miss, you will cringe, shed a few tears, and even some chuckles.

Great Escapes Virtual book Tours Presents: Black Cat and the Secret in Dewey's Diary

Black Cat and the Secret in Dewey’s Diary:
A Tale of History, Mystery, Riddles, and Gold.
by Elaine Faber

The story was a fun puzzle and even contained a treasure hunt. The interplay between the two cats, Black Cat and Angel, was cute.
~Ruff Drafts
These are two unconnected stories, linked only in that Kimberlee, the main character, is in both . . . That said, the present-day murder mystery was a puzzle that kept me guessing, right to the surprise ending . . . The WWII treasure hunt also had an intriguing and satisfying tie-up of facts.
~Here’s How It Happened
An exciting adventure told from varying viewpoints.
~Laura’s Interests
I like how Black Cat gives people nudges toward clues and alerts them to danger . . . If you enjoy books with cats, you should give this series a try.
