How
do we take care of ourselves and still be able to help other people? There are
mothers, grandmothers, and daughters reading this that are exhausted from
caring for others. You are approaching a limit that will leave you ineffective.
When you take the time to have a cup of coffee, read a book, or take a
leisurely walk, you feel guilty.
In
the midst of our caring for the people around us, we can become weary. Our
personal, emotional, and spiritual strength diminishes if we minister to others
without refreshing our own heart. We will feel empty and weak. The truths from
God’s Word that should encourage our hearts seem lost in the confusion of our
weary soul. We need to stop and sit at the feet of the Savior.
Time
with the Lord refreshes our priorities and renews our focus. Our service to
others becomes a joy and not a resented obligation. If we love God supremely,
we will serve those around us as if we were caring for the Lord Jesus
Himself.
