My Review

My little niece is in love with this bible, you can tell she thinks she is a big girl as she takes the handle and brings it to church.
The book is sturdy and made of cardboard, perfect for her little hands, and the cover is squishy, as it is lightly padded.
We love going through the bible stories, with the bight illustrations to go along with, supported by scripture.
The book states juvenile, and our little one is two, we find it perfect for her.

About the Author

Mystery writing lets Peg indulge her curiosity under the guise of “work” (aka research). As a kid, she read the entire set of children’s encyclopedias her parents gave her and has been known to read the dictionary. Patti Michels has lived in the same rural midwestern county her entire life, thirty-nine of those with her husband. She loves designing her family’s Christmas card and working with senior citizens. At the end of a long day, she enjoys returning to the farm and looking out her kitchen window at her own barn quilt.

Believe it or not, the idea for this children’s book started out as a Christmas card.  Each year the Michels family produces their own original Christmas card.  This tradition started out simple, in the early 1980’s, as the Michels’ two small daughters helped with the coloring, cutting, and gluing!

Patti Michels and Max, her farmer husband of 39 years, live on a small farm in Southern Illinois.  The girls have grown and moved on, and the empty-nesters have joined others in their small farm community, in creating a barn quilt to hang on their barn.

While Max was preparing the 36″ X 36″ wood panel for Patti to paint, Patti was drawing and designing and dreaming up the best barn quilt pattern to display on the barn at Maple Shade Farm. As Patti painted their special barn quilt, a Christmas card idea popped into her head. “What if the stable where Jesus was born had a barn quilt?”

Patti feels like ideas are a gift from God, as is her husband, who helps her pull off one after another completed “project”.  Whether it’s feeding cows, baling hay, making Christmas cards, or creating a barn quilt, they continue to work side by side. This book, based on the real life story of creating the barn quilt, gives kids a glimpse into a small farm family life, while also enjoying and celebrating those things that make Christmas so special, like hot chocolate, cookies and God’s love.

My Review

The title of this little book intrigued me, especially since I own a barn, and I am a quilter.
Loved how the neighbor’s boy came up with the idea, but was totally embraced by the farm family.
When sharing this book with my young niece, we were trying to decide which quilt block would be best, and should we put one on our barn. As we read the book and talked about each of the suggested blocks, and liked the final choice, and the bonus one!
A cute and educational book to share with your little ones!

My Review

Be ready for a book that will grab you and not let go, there is action around every corner, and most you won’t see coming.
You will think you know whom is perpetrating the evil, but found myself questioning my guesses, and changing my mind.
There is a strong family group here, and they embrace their loved ones, and we witness this up close, but the danger is lurking. There are some very big secrets being kept here, and when they are revealed will they be accepted?
Yes, I was surprised by the outcome here, and saddened, whom to trust?
Once this one is picked up, you will need to keep reading for answers!

My Review

The author gives a story of a young woman who has given up most everything to protect her sister’s children from their abusive father, but will it be enough?
She is surviving when the unthinkable happens and they escape with their lives, losing everything, but help comes.
With the help comes a chance of rebirth, and a new life, but will things stay the same, but different, and will the danger stay away?
The read is a look at how things can change in a second, and we never know, but we also find joy in these darling children.
You need to keep turning the pages here to find out how this one turns out, and my thoughts were spinning!

My Review

We are back with the Petersheim family, and with the preconscious nine-year-old twins Benji and Alfi, and also Bitsey and her famous cats.
The author has given us a family whose home is full since their grandparents moved in, and thus the twins are placed in cellar, with nasty spiders, and are in the process of trying to find wives for their older brother, and thus get a bedroom upstairs. Now these boys did manage to find their oldest brother a wife, and now the next in line is Abraham.
We adventure with these two while they go about finding the perfect wife for their bother, with the hopes of getting out of the cellar. The journey brings many chuckles, and page turning, and wanting more! Delightful!

My Review

 

 

What a wonderful little read for your young one, they are usually accepting of children that are different, and this book helps to show, with beautiful illustrations, examples.
Along with a story, and with Christian values, showing children to treat others with respect and kindness.
I think that every parent should have this book to share with their little ones, if we start early to show differences, children are really accepting, and this is a great resource.
I loved that there is a guidance for parents in the back called Four Ways to Help Your Child, a don’t miss area for guidance.
