Forced to flee Omaha in 1880, Rebecca Alexander seizes an unforeseen and desperate chance to escape her past—trading places with a mail order bride bound for Sacramento.
Widowed Jesse Harris didn’t expect to marry a stranger that day, but with two young children and a struggling ranch, he’s willing to take a risk.
As Rebecca and Jesse work to build a life together, love begins to grow—but so do the shadows of Rebecca’s secret. And if the truth comes out, it could destroy everything.
Can Jesse trust the woman who wasn’t meant to be his bride? And can God redeem the past and turn it into something beautiful?

My Review
This is a quick read, a novella, but this is a book that is full of emotions. You feel the pain of a father that has lost his wife, children whom have lost their mother. We are also given a young woman, a very pretty girl, and she has attracted a lot of attention, often from the wrong people. When she is attacked she fears the worst and flees, and fate is waiting for her on her train ride west.
This is a faith based read, and wow, the author shows us how God works in the lives of these people we have come to care about.
There are some moments that you will be silently screaming, injustice, and I thank the author for the epilogue, we are there to see how things turn out!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Jeri Stockdale Books, and was not required to give a positive review.
