The Preacher's Son (The Infamous Amish #1) by Patricia Johns

In this poignant new series, Patricia Johns introduces an Amish family striving to reclaim the promise of love, marriage, and community . . .

The Amish residents of Bountiful, Pennsylvania, are stunned when preacher Abe Yoder is imprisoned for fraud. For Abe’s son, Isaiah, the news cuts doubly deep. His daet’s misdeeds have cost Isaiah his family’s land and their good name. To support his sisters, he takes a job in the Glick family’s
book-binding shop, though it means working alongside a woman who has every reason to resent him. Yet his attraction to Bethany Glick’s beauty and warmth is undimmed . . .

Isaiah’s daet’s actions helped drive Bethany’s fiancé to the Englischer world, and cost her own father his savings. Their shop has need of Isaiah’s brawn and skill, but if she’s to start over after heartbreak, she needs a man she can trust. Not a Yoder. But Isaiah isn’t giving up so easily. And when Bethany faces a dilemma, there may be a way for each to find not just redemption, but a joyful new love.

About The Author

I’m a Publishers Weekly bestselling romance author for  Harlequin’s Love Inspired and Heartwarming lines, as well as for Kensington Books. I am represented by Rachel Beck of Liza Dawson Associates, and you can find my books anywhere books are sold online and in bookstores.

I have my Hon. BA in English Literature from University of Toronto, and I live in Alberta, Canada, where the weather dominates our small talk. Mr. Johns has the distinct challenge of being married to a writer, and our preteen son has yet to be overly impressed by his mother’s books on a shelf. 😉 It’s the perfect life for me!

My Review

I love how this author's mind works, as we are given an Amish man who is in jail, and the aftermath his family experiences. So many people lost money in his scams, and worse, he was a preacher.

We see first hand the damage done, as we begin the story and seeing many young people leaving their community, having lost faith, but staying and digging his heels in is Isaiah, trying to hold his head up, he is the Preacher's son, and living where so many have lost so much.

Now with their leaving many families are feeling the impact, and loss, and a young woman is more or less left at the altar, when her boyfriend leaves. Now Bethany has another problem, and we are there to see how she and her family deals with this news.

I enjoyed this page turning read, and am looking forward to the next book in this series!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Zebra, and was not required to give a positive review.
