Kregel Book Tours: My Pop Up Bible Stories by Juliet David, Daniel Howarth (Illustrator)

About: With a pop-up scene on every page, children will cherish this selection of favorite stories from the Old and New Testaments. From the moment Baby Moses is found floating in a basket among the bulrushes to Jesus' stilling of the storm, children will be captivated by Daniel Howarth's remarkable illustrations as each story pops off the page.

About the Author Juliet David has written many children's stories and Bible activity books. Her other interests include painting, music, and travel to Israel and other Bible lands. This experienced author lives in London with her family.

Hannah gained a degree in history and worked as a graphic designer for several years before finding her true creative outlet as an illustrator. Specialising in brightly-coloured fun illustrations that bring a smile to the young reader's face, Hannah is always ready - pencil in hand - for the challenges illustration brings. Hannah lives in Uppingham in the one-time smallest county in England, Rutland.

My Review:
As soon as this book came in the mail I was required to read it to my boys. Since then they request it very often.
The first pop-up is the story of How Moses became the Prince of Egypt...this one has a beautiful pop-up of the baby going down the Nile in a basket. We then went to our bible with the reference [using a children's Bible] of Exodus 2:1-10.
Next is the reference of how God rescues David from the Lions. The kids loved this...especially peeking at the guy looking in! Referencing the Bible again we read Daniel 6:1-24.
Then we have the story of Jesus bringing a girl back to life...so very sweet and we read Luke 8:40-41 49-56.
The Boys loved the next one and the pictures of How the Shepherd found his lost sheep, and we read Luke 15:1-7.
The last one was one of their favorites...How Jesus stopped the storm! We read Luke 8:22-25.
What a great and enjoyable way to share the bible with little ones. The pop-up enhanced the reading so very much.

I received this book from the Publisher Lion Hudson, and was not required to give a positive review.

  1. To what place can I invite you, then, since I am in you? Or where could you come from, in order to come into me? To what place outside heaven and earth could I travel, so that my God could come to me there, the God who said, I fill heaven and Earth?

  2. Love these stories. We've had some similar ones in our church library. They make me think of travel too! I want to travel and take my children with me to all kinds of points of the earth and meet God in them and that desire started with these same bible stories - wanting to know the geography of those lands for myself. Great review.
