PUMP UP YOUR BOOK ONLINE BOOK PUBLICITY: Lost Girls by Caitlin Rother

Chelsea King was a popular high school senior, an outstanding achiever fiercely determined to make a difference. Fourteen-year-old Amber Dubois loved books and poured her heart into the animals she cared for and the poetry she wrote. Loved by their families and treasured by their friends, both girls disappeared in northern San Diego County, just eight miles and one year apart. The region’s desperate search for these lost innocents led authorities to a brutal predator hiding in plain sight: John Albert Gardner, a convicted sex offender who could have been returned to prison several times over. Now New York Times bestselling author Caitlin Rother delivers an incisive, heartbreaking true-life thriller about a case that galvanized the community, first by grief and goodwill, then by anger and injustice, as it came to grips with a flawed system that failed … and adopted a law that will forever change how we keep our children safe. This chilling book aims to help readers understand how to protect themselves and their children and how to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future by revealing new and exclusive details about the factors that turned Gardner, once a troubled but caring boy, into an angry adult sex offender who was unable to control his violent urges.

New York Times. bestselling author Caitlin Rother has written or co-authored eight books, both fiction and non-fiction. A Pulitzer-nominated investigative journalist, Rother worked nearly 20 years for daily newspapers, and has made dozens of TV and radio appearances as a crime expert. She speaks to professional groups, works as an editorial consultant/book doctor, and teaches narrative non-fiction, journalism, and creative writing at UCSD Extension in San Diego, where she lives. She draws from her years of experience reporting on a wide range of topics -- from addiction, suicide, mental illness and murder to politics and corruption at City Hall and in Congress. You can visit her website at www.caitlinrother.com.

My Review:
Page turning sad, sad story. The story of dysfunctional families, drug abuse, bipolar, incest, and murder. We find families failing one another, hospitals and Government Agencies not helping or doing their jobs. Laws that are in place and not enforced, people either not doing their jobs, or over worked to the point they are unable to comply.
John Albert Garner, was born with problems, his Mom became a psychiatric nurse in order to support and help her son. Throughout the book you see numerous times she tried and tried to help him. She supported him and hard a hard time believing the monster her son had become. She was also not responsible for his drug abuse, but she should have told authorities about some of her suspicions.
Unfortunately the system failed and two young girls lost their lives because of this. Parents of these girls and politicians have now passed new laws to help prevent another tragedy....if they are enforced! Some have already been postponed. Don't miss this insight into the mind of a killer, and what helped make him who he is.

Review of Simon & Schusters: Dog on the Roof!: On the Road with Mitt and the Mutt by Bruce Kluger, David Slavin, Colleen Clapp (Illustrator)

Dog on the Roof!: On the Road with Mitt and the MuttDog on the Roof!: On the Road with Mitt and the Mutt by Bruce Kluger
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reminiscent of National Lampoon's Vacation. Mitt Romney and his family are set to take a family vacation....whoops...no room in the car...so the dog sits on the roof..in crate not a rocking chair!!
It set in poetry, and the trip and traveling will make you cringe...seems to be no set route! The go from one end of the country to the other, and back, and up and down.
To funny! The pictures are hysterical, and we know its not true! Thank goodness ...a dog strapped to the top of the car? As it says on the back of the book the story is completely true, and only EMBELLISHED a little!!
Sit back and enjoy a quick and funny read, it only takes a few minutes, and be ready for quite a trip!!

Her Surprise Sister (Texas Twins, #1) by Marta Perry

Description Imagine her shock when Violet Colby discovers she has an identical twin sister she never knew existed. Why her family was torn apart remains a secret no one can answer--yet.Hoping to develop a sisterly bond, Violet invites her sophisticated city twin to the Colby Ranch in tiny Grasslands, Texas. But when her sister's former fiance arrives with questions of his own, country girl Violet finds herself drawn to handsome businessman Landon Derringer. And learns that true love requires faith--and a heart as big as Texas.

Marta Perry

Marta Perry is a Pennsylvania-based author of over 35 novels, many of them inspirational romances. She uses her rural Pennsylvania life and her Pennsylvania Dutch heritage in writing her books, especially in her Pleasant Valley Amish series for Berkley Books and her new Amish-set suspense series for HQN Books.
Marta and her husband live in a centuries-old farmhouse in a quiet central Pennsylvania valley. They have three grown children and six beautiful grandchildren, and when she's not busy writing her next book, she's usually trying to keep up with her gardening, baking for church events, or visiting those beautiful grandkids.
My Review:

Right from the start this book became a page turner, but I will have to read some more books for all the answers. Violet Colby's Mom is in a coma after being injured in a horse ridding accident..she had just had a fight with her brother Jack. Her brother had wanted information about his Dad!!
We find Violet in Fort Worth TX...looking for information on their Dad. What happens could only be with God looking out for her...I can't even imagine. Putting myself in her place...after all those years...finding out she has a sister...and identical at that!
We find out that Violet and Maddie were infants when the family?? broke up...but even more amazing is that there are another set of twins? We don't find out any answers, but keep reading. Belle, Violets and Jack's Mom doesn't come out of her coma, and their Dad has not yet been reached. I want to read the next book in this series, they have pulled me in.

Simon & Schuster's Destiny Divas: A Novel by Victoria Christopher Murray

Description
THEY CAN TALK THE TALK, BUT CAN THEY WALK THE WALK?
Sierra, Raine, and Liza are Destiny’s Divas, a fresh, new gospel group whose unique blend of singing and testifying has gained them fans across the country. They tell the world about how good God has been to them, but off-stage, each is living a life totally opposite to what she preaches—and each is harboring a secret that could ruin them all.
Twenty-something Sierra Dixon speaks about the joy of being single and celibate, though she is anything but, drifting from one relationship to another. Although she stresses the importance of unconditional love within the family, Raine Omari has hit her breaking point with her mother-in-law and is ready to take drastic steps. And when Liza Washington discovers that her pastor-husband is in the middle of a scandal that could bring down more than just their ministry, she knows she must do something to stop him. One fateful evening their secrets are exposed, and one diva commits an act that could land her in prison for the rest of her life. Each has motive—who will crack?

About the Author
Victoria Christopher Murray always knew she would become an author, even as she was taking an unlikely path to that destination. A native of Queens, Victoria first left New York to attend Hampton University where she majored in Communication Disorders. After graduating, Victoria attended New York University where she received her MBA.
Victoria spent ten years in Corporate America before she tested her entrepreneurial spirit. She opened a Financial Services Agency for Aegon, USA where she managed the number one division for nine consecutive years. However, Victoria never lost the dream to write and when the "bug" hit her again in 1997, she answered the call.
Victoria originally self published Temptation. "I wanted to write a book as entertaining as any book on the market, put God in the middle, and have the book still be a page-turner. I wasn’t writing to any particular genre – I didn’t even know Christian fiction existed. I just wanted to write about people I knew and characters I could relate to."
In 2000, Time Warner published Temptation. Temptation made numerous best sellers list and remained on the Essence bestsellers list for nine consecutive months. In 2001, Temptation was nominated for an NAACP Image Award in Outstanding Literature.
Since Temptation, Victoria has written eleven other adult novels, including: JOY, Grown Folks Business, The Ex Files, The Deal, the Dance and the Devil, her newest novel Destiny's Divas and the popular Jasmine Cox Larson Bush series. In 2012, Victoria joined ReShonda Tate Billingsley to write the collaboration, Sinners and Saints which pits Victoria's Jasmine character against Rachel Adams, a first lady created by ReShonda.
Victoria was a contributor to the first Christian fiction anthology, Blessed Assurance and the Contributing Editor for the Aspire Women of Color Bible published by Zondervan. Victoria has received numerous awards including the Golden Pen Award for Best Inspirational Fiction and the Phyllis Wheatley Trailblazer Award for being the pioneer in African American Christian Fiction. Since 2007, Victoria has won six African American Literary Awards for best novel, best Christian fiction and Author of the Year - Female.
In 2008, Victoria’s first novels in her Christian fiction teen series - The Divine Divas – were published. "I was concerned with what our young ladies were reading. I decided to do something about that – give them stories full of drama, but with a message." The Divine Divas has already been optioned to become a television series.
Victoria splits her time between Los Angeles and Washington D.C. In Los Angeles, she attends Bible Enrichment Fellowship International Church under the spiritual tutelage of Dr. Beverly "BAM" Crawford and in Washington, D.C., she fellowships at Metropolitan Baptist Church under Dr. H. Beecher Hicks, Jr. She is also a member of the Long Beach Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

My Review:

Once you open this book you won't be able to put it down until finished. We follow three generations with Sierra, being the youngest, Raine the woman with a 12 year old, and Liza a Mother of grown children.
They are now the hottest new gospel group sensation, and about to begin a tour across the US.
As we look into the lives of these strong woman, we see that things are not as they appear. Each is locked into their own struggle, and we move along with them throughout the book. As each grows stronger and more determined, we find the hand of God on each. Surprising ending and not exactly like I thought it would be...I of course want more of these woman...please let us move on with them! Can't say enough about how great the writing is in this book, it moves along so smoothly!

I received this book from the Publisher Simon and Schuster, and was not required to give a positive review.
