Pamela Kennedy loves writing for children and has authored more than thirty books of stories, prayers, and devotions. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, playing with her grandchildren, and exploring the beaches of Puget Sound. Pam and her husband currently live in Seattle, Washington.

Anne Kennedy Brady lives in Chicago with her husband and their brand-new son. She’s written half a dozen books for children, including several with her mother, Pamela Kennedy. When she’s not writing books and plays, Anne enjoys cooking and taking long city walks with her family in search of the perfect deep dish pizza.

This darling little book is geared to ages 5 – 6, but it can be used for younger or older, and the perfect way to end the day. As you tuck them in and say prayers together, a cherished nighttime remembrance routine, a treasured time together.
A sturdy cardboard book for little hands, brightly colored illustrations on their favorite characters, and then the perfect little prayer for these precious little ones.
There are prayers designed to reflect the day they have just spent, maybe a sick playmate, weather, or family, perfect ending for the end of the day.
This little book has already been used and loved in my home, and it will become the go to book in yours, mine love Veggie Tales.

My Review

When I first started this book, I felt compelled to keep page turning, the author is a gifted writer and although I was grasping for what the story was about, I had to keep at it.
Now I knew this was a Christian book, but there are no bible verses and we do not go to church, but I could quickly sense the undertones, and it wasn’t too far in that I began to understand, and it was so real.
This is a very different read, and yet it brought the justice system to light, a ten-year-old in prison, a man buried alive [how do these people sleep at night, they don’t], and then the mysterious deaths.
The ending was so awesome, once you read this, I felt justice was done, but then the evil continues, and I believe it does. So, scary, and yet so real!

My Review

The author has set this story at the beginnings of the American Revolution and soon we are experiencing it up close and personal, and walk in both Elisabeth aka Liberty, and Nobel Rynallt a patriot, shoes.
We wonder for a little bit whether one or both of these people, that the author has made us care about, will live through the turmoil that is falling about them. The setting for this read is Virginia, and we are still under the Kings rule, but the beauty of the area is seen through the eyes of those we now care about.
I could just picture Liberty making her lace, what a beautiful talent, and I could see Nobel and his majestic horses, and made me want to live in this area, but with the war looming will it continue to exist as it is?
This is a read that would make a wonderful movie, and I felt I was watching as each chapter unfolded, once you pick this one up you will not want to put it down, you will have to know the outcome.

Hailey’s brain scrambled for an out, any out. She put on a fake smile and said, “You don’t know how much I wish I could have dinner with you tonight, but you must not have heard … I’m recently engaged.” She kept a straight face when she wanted to gasp in shock. Where had that come from, and who was she going to claim she was engaged to?
William released her hair and actually took a step back, the scowl on his face ruining all his supposed good looks. “You are?” His eyes strayed to her left hand. She clasped it with her right to hide her naked finger. “To whom?”
A dark-haired man appeared at her table. Hailey dealt with burly football players every day of her life, but this guy’s shape still gave her pause. He was probably around six three and two hundred and fifty pounds. Every inch was muscle, not bodybuilder muscle but lean and functional and covered by smooth, tanned skin. He definitely had some Italian heritage in him as dark and good-looking as he was. Hailey had a strict policy of not checking out her own team’s football players, but she knew every single one of them. This guy wasn’t on her roster.
“Excuse me.” The man’s deep voice washed over her as his dark eyes looked at her with concern then flashed to William with annoyance. “Do you need some help?”
Yes, yes she did. Hailey grasped his arm and cuddled into his side, wrapping her other arm around his waist. “Thank you for coming to check on me, sweetheart.” His body tightened at the way she was trying to manhandle him, impossible to really do as she was almost a foot shorter and less than half his bodyweight, but she needed help, and she needed it now. The solution was so clear. William would back off if she were engaged. He would have to. Then there would be no repercussions on her football team and no coercion to date, and especially not to stay the night with, the slime ball VP.
“Um, sure … anything for you, honey.” The man wrapped his arm around her shoulder, and Hailey had never felt so safe as he gently pulled her close. Safety and reassurance were amazing and unexpected feelings to have at the moment, especially after the fear of William clogging her throat mere seconds ago and the fact that she naturally shied away from well-built men. The emotion of it all made her weak, and she found herself leaning against his muscular chest.
The dark-haired guy glanced down at her and winked. Ooh, he was quick too. She ticked off his positive qualities in her mind—not one of her football brothers, handsome with strong facial features, brown eyes framed with dark lashes, and smart. She might even give this guy a date to prove they were engaged.
“This is my fiancé,” she said to William, inclining her chin with pride.
The man kind of started, but he stayed close to her side as he released her from his hold and stuck his hand out to William. “Brady Giles. Pleasure to meet you …”
Brady Giles? Oh, crap, he was one of her players! He’d recently transferred from New England. He was one of the top cornerbacks in the nation, and they were extremely blessed to get him, but the Brady Giles she’d seen from the sidelines had long, dark wavy hair and a full beard. This guy with the cropped hair and clean shaven model-gorgeous face was a Brady Giles she’d never expected—sharp and way too appealing. What had she done?

My Review

 

 

A very powerful read and a time that we need to never forget, it can never be repeated, but you will need to have the tissues handy.
A story of survival, but also one of great faith, this life is temporary, but hard when it is being stolen from you because of your heritage. We see brutality up close and personal, and also compassion and the ultimate gift of giving one’s own life for another.
We also see where there is such great hate there is also love not all are evil, and the author puts faces on these people. From the first to the last page, I couldn’t stop reading, and we don’t know whom will still be with us as we turn the last.
A compelling read and when I finished, I wanted more!
