  My mom and dad are superheroes. Even my sister, who is in high school and has no time for her kid brother, is a superhero. Talk about a lot of pressure, right? Mom has super strength and dad has super speed. My sister, Marcy, has super hearing, which makes it really awkward if you have to go to the bathroom, if you know what I mean. And that’s where I come in. My name is Theo Perkins and I’ll be starting Juniper Springs Middle School in a few days. The trouble is, I just got my own super powers and they aren’t exactly what I had in mind. I figured, you know, with all the awesomeness floating around in my family, I was bound to get some super cool powers when the time came. Man, was I ever wrong. I’ve heard stories about some kids getting weird, useless powers and even some kids getting powers that glitch more than they work. But I thought those were just made up to scare super kids into being good. It turns out that not only are they true, but I am one of the lucky (not!) super kids who got a mega dud for a super power. Instead of beginning my first day of middle school as a superhero, I’m beginning it as a super ZERO.

Her gaze kept straying back to the man walking next to her.

And she knew with pulse-pounding certainty.

All the rationalizations of why romantic feelings didn’t matter and why she was better off alone than in a relationship disappeared like a snowflake being caught on a tongue. They mattered, and she wanted those things badly.

With Ty.

She hadn’t meant to fall for him, but she had. Hard.

A shiver raced down her spine. The realization was unexpected, scary.

He shot her a sideways glance, which she knew because she couldn’t drag her attention off him. “You, okay?”

“Just thinking.” Of course, he would sense something was up. That was part of his appeal. He got her. The way he understood her daughter, too. If there was one man out there who was what she needed and Brooklyn needed, that was Ty Murphy.

Feelings and desires long buried rose to the surface. She was ready to stop saying she didn’t want more, want him.

“Know what you want?” he asked.

Meg swallowed around the lump in her throat. “Excuse me.”

“What chocolates you’re going to get?”

She sighed with relief. She thought he’d read her mind. “Salted caramels for the guys. I’ll have to see what Sage has in the display case before I decide what I want.”

Besides him.

“You can have more than one,” Ty said.

“I might want only one.”

“It’s Christmas. Don’t be so cautious. Live it up.”

My Review:

Furry Logic what a great name for this wonderful book, filled with beautiful illustrations, and great words of wisdom. Whether young or older, this book is for all, with the little ones grabbing at the colorful pages, and the adults enjoying the read of the Guide to Life’s Little Challenges.
Included in this 10th Anniversary edition are the author’s notes of how she enjoyed creating the beautiful watercolors drawings that are presented with the words of wisdom. I really enjoyed the little package of a book, with something that I will be enjoying daily. This will have a prominent place on my coffee table so I can share the enjoyment with others too.

My Review: 

A book everyone should own, and for children it will help them accept their differences. With rhyme and illustrations galore we visually see differences pointed out in a comical and yet non-threatening way, everyone is different, and yet the same.
This book will be displayed on our coffee table, and the boys want it shared and they did try to talk without moving their mouths. Even the title of the book makes me smile.
There are a lot of great messages that so important to pass on to our youngsters, this should even be a mandatory read for all.

My Review:

I began by reading this book with my little three-year-old friend; he was excited when he saw the bright big yellow balloon on the front cover.
We sat and he snuggled up with me, and helped turn the pages, he loved the bright colors as they drew him into the story. I changed the little boys name to my little friends, and he loved it. He too was mesmerized by all of the balloons in so many colors, and we picked out and named a lot of them.
We talked about how he felt when the disaster happened, and loved his replies. He sure was hooked on the book! He was surprised when the page grew…wow! All the way to the end he was captivated, and what a great message to convey to this little guy.
