My Review:

Another great book by Robin Lee Hatcher. In this book we meet Diana Brennan Applegate, she is an Irish immigrant, and ended up on the orphan train. Diana ended up with a good family, but married young when dashing and wealthy Tyson Applegate sweeps her off her feet. He on the other hand has married her to get his inheritance. In the end, thinking only of himself, Tyson takes off and travels around the world. In his travels he finally ends up in Cuba, he is serving with Theodore Roosevelt, and the Rough Riders.
When Diana has word her husband is missing and presumed dead, she is angry with him. As the years past she moves on with her life, and the day before she can finally have Tyson declared dead, she is at a party to have her engagement announced. You can probably guess, but Tyson shows up at the party.
He claims to Diana he is a changed man, and now follows his God and Savior. Of course she does not believe him, she is still so hurt from her abandonment. Tyson offers her a deal, if she will come and be his wife, in all ways but one, he will let her leave in November, and provide an allowance and home for her. He wants to run for US Senate, and needs her. Of course, he hopes that being with him will bring her back to him.
We find her setting up the household and having dinner parties, and doing her job, but can she control her heart? Will Tyson, and her staff, be able to put up with all the strays she brings home? We are ready for a variety of animals and people!! She has such a big heart for those in need.
Will Tyson be able to convince her that he has changed, what about his controlling Father? There are a lot surprises to be found here. It is one fast paced, and interesting read, and you won't be able to put it down.

My Review:




Talk about having to face your past. Poor Julia, you will be in tears for her. Twenty plus years ago she gave birth to a daughter, and gave her up for adoption. Then Julia ends up pregnant again, and again gives her daughter up for adoption.
Fast forward and she is now happily married to Matt, has a thriving business, that uses her artistic talents, and has a sick, and possibly dying thirteen year old son. Dillon was born with a bad liver, and for one reason or not all of the family, and friends have been ruled out. He is now running out of time.
Can you imagine going to one daughter, never mind two, with the same question of asking for blood type, and a piece of a liver. One we would hope never to have to do. She has to open the box of her heart and in return we hope she receives many blessings.
Will Julia be able to save her gifted son? Will she be able to find a donor in time? In between all of this, she ends up traveling all over the US. Reuniting with her daughter's fathers, can't imagine!! Also, there is a bit of trouble, and danger thrown in.
This is a heart wrenching story, a lot of love, and feeling of God's presence thrown in. Don't miss this one!

My Review:


 I recently shared this book with our two boys, ages 6 and 8. They loved it, and we will be reading it again during the Advent season.
The boys loved putting a name and face to the story of the shepherds! They help put up our manger each year, and love placing the sheep in different places. Now they know one of the little shepherd's by name, Obed.
They listened as I read, and eyes got big at the mention of the wolf. When they heard the shepherd was only 5 and was able to stay up at night, they wanted to be shepherds!
Then we spoke of how the Angel appeared in the story, and we spoke of Jesus arrival. What a wonderful story for them to be pulled right to the time of the birth. They wondered how Obed could leave the sheep alone and the wolf not get them. We talked about the miracles.
What an awesome book to share and show a shepherd they can put a name to, and bring the magic of that night alive. Loved it!!

My Review:

A perfect book to share with your little preschooler. Once you open the book the beautiful illustrations pop out, and quickly gather the children's attention.
What a perfect way to start reading the bible, and helping them understand. The book is written in such away, to help them comprehend, and keep their attention, as the stories are only 4 pages long.
Grab their favorite toy, and nice warm blanket and settle down for a rewarding experience with this book.

 My Review:

I read this book along with our 8 and 6 year old boys. The book immediately got their attention, and the illustrations are wonderful. As we read we talked about the story, and then the boys gave examples of someone being picked on. The 8 year old knew what was happening to Catie, but the 6 year old was a bit surprised.
The book was written for the author's daughter who wanted a story about a butterfly. There are great examples of things that turn out to be something other than what you thought they were, and the boys enjoyed that. Example was acorn to oak tree, something so small to something so big!
This is the third book in Laura Allen Nonmaker's children's series, God's Secret Garden Adventure, and I would recommend them all. Sharing God's creations with children so they appreciate it, and the lesson of forgiveness, which happens in bullying.
